Sandra Guzman

Sandra Guzmán is a prize-winning independent journalist, filmmaker, speaker, and author with an extensive career spanning across broadcast, newspaper, magazine journalism, and documentary filmmaking. She authored the critically acclaimed "The New Latina’s Bible: The Modern Latina’s Guide to Love, Family, Spirituality, and La Vida." Her work provides deep insight into the complexities faced by Latinas today, blending warmth, humor, and seasoned wisdom.

Currently, Guzmán serves as editor-in-chief of "Heart & Soul," a fitness, health, and wellness magazine for women of color, and is the former editor-in-chief of "LATINA" magazine. Her tenure at the "New York Post" as Associate Editor saw her spearheading nearly a dozen feature sections, including one that highlighted New York’s ethnic and religious communities. Guzmán has notably collaborated with Timothy Greenfield-Sanders on the "Identity" documentary film series, which includes "The Women’s List," "The Boomer List," and "The Latino List, Volumes I & II," aired on networks like PBS for American Masters and HBO. She was also the last journalist to interview Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison for the film "Toni Morrison: The Pieces I am."

Guzmán’s skills extend to the realm of digital journalism as a contributing writer for NBC News online platforms, including NBC Latino and NBC Black. Her dynamic public speaking has seen her delivering keynote addresses and workshops on a multitude of topics, including media, race, women’s issues, wellness, pop culture, politics, and diversity across college campuses and Fortune 500 companies. Her forthcoming memoir addresses the power of art and literature in healing racial and historical trauma, marking yet another significant contribution to discussions of cultural identity and resilience. Guzmán also holds an EMMY for producing a public affairs program on the US-Cuban Embargo at Telemundo’s New York affiliate, further emphasizing her influential voice in media and the arts.
