Sandy Fershee leads a human-centered design team at At D-Ford Detroit, pushing the edge of Ford’s future strategies. They design new products, services, and ventures that customers love and drive business profitability.
In her work at Ford Motor Company, Fershee and her team immerse themselves in the lives of the people who use their products. While working on Ford F-150 trucks, Fershee spent time with truck owners in their homes, at their workplaces and even on vacation with them. Understanding all aspects of people’s lives enables her to look for opportunities for products and services that can help them even beyond their trucks.
As a woman in a leadership position, Fershee feels a responsibility to have a positive impact on the world around her and future generations. “I want to make a difference, even in little ways. I care about people and I care about what I create in the world.”
Fershee is passionate about seeing women represented in all types of careers so they’ll know that there’s a space for them. A mentor for younger women within and outside her job, she encourages them to power forward, explore new things and understand that success doesn’t always follow a straight path.
