Scott Z. Burns Biography
Scott Z. Burns is the screenwriter of the film Contagion, directed by Steven Soderbergh, about what happens when a global pandemic strikes. Employing cutting-edge scientific modeling, Contagion presents a realistic and harrowing portrayal of the spread of an unstoppable killer virus. His previous screenplays include The Informant! and The Bourne Ultimatum, and he is currently adapting Jules Verne’s classic 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for Disney with David Fincher slated to direct. Burns recently wrote the screenplay for the film, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., which stars George Clooney. Burns began his career in advertising, after graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Minnesota. He was part of the creative team responsible for the original “Got Milk?” campaign and his advertising work has been recognized by the Clio Awards, the Cannes Film Festival, and the New York Film Festival. He has written for GQ, Condé Nast Traveler and the Huffington Post.
