Sebastián Mejia

Sebastián Mejia is a Colombian entrepreneur best known as the co-founder and President of Rappi, a leading on-demand delivery platform in Latin America. Founded in 2015 by Simón Borrero, Felipe Villamarín and Mejía in Bogotá, Colombia, Rappi started as a simple delivery service but quickly evolved into a multifaceted platform offering a wide range of services including groceries, restaurant orders, and even cash deliveries.

Under Mejia's leadership, Rappi has expanded its operations to multiple countries across Latin America. The platform's rapid growth and adaptation to various markets has led to securing significant funding from major investors, including SoftBank, which invested $1 billion in Rappi in 2019. That same year, Borrero, Villamarin, and Mejía were included in Bloomberg’s 50 Most Influential people list and Rappi was highlighted as a company that was transforming Latin America.

Mejia's entrepreneurial spirit and innovative approach have been crucial in Rappi's journey from a startup to a tech unicorn. Beyond Rappi, he is a prominent figure in promoting the startup culture and innovation in the region. Mejia himself is also the founder of the nonprofit Impacto Global Inc., whose mission was to fund Latin American initiatives to fight Covid-19; business-to-business mobile retail technology company Grability, Inc.; and SebMe LLC, an entrepreneurial company focusing on deals and business development activities in the fields of technology, media, finance and entertainment.

With degrees in economics and business administration, Mejia started his career as an analyst & consultant at G2 Investment Group, LLC, a private investment firm in New York.
