Sharon Chuter

Listed by WWD as one of the 50 most forward-thinking executives shaping the future of the beauty industry, Nigerian born Sharon Chuter, is a rebel with a cause and on a mission to go off the well beaten path to redefine the rules of inclusivity and diversity. A visionary and seasoned beauty industry executive, Chuter has had a career that has spanned multiple continents and has worked with major multinational beauty and consumer brands including Revlon, L'Oréal, PepsiCo, GSK and most recently Benefit Cosmetics. Chuter started on the sales floor of Revlon, bringing the company Nigeria when she was still a teenager, and worked her way up to the C-suite before she left to start Uoma Beauty, an inclusive black-owned beauty brand.

As the creative director of Uoma Beauty, Chuter has taken a very hands-on approach to create a makeup range that is forward thinking, radical and uncompromising. She draws inspiration from her Afro heritage and infuses it with fierce modernity to create a truly fresh aesthetic. Disrupting the beauty industry, Chuter started #PullUpForChange, a grassroots campaign which challenges beauty brands to disclose the number of Black employees on their payroll and the Pull Up for Change Small Business Impact Fund, a fund dedicated to supporting early-stage Black founders. She also created Make It Black, an organization that partners with brands to raise awareness and showcase the beauty of being Black.
