Shawn Johnson East

Shawn Johnson East is a former gymnast, Olympic gold medalist, and media personality. Johnson began gymnastics at the age of three. Her talent and dedication quickly set her apart, and by 2007, she was a dominant figure on the global stage, winning the all-around title at the World Championships. Her triumphs culminated in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where she secured the gold medal on the balance beam and silver medals in the team competitions, all-around, and floor exercise. Johnson also won the all-around at the American Cup, Pan American Games, and U.S. National Championships in her rookie season.

After her Olympic success, Johnson transitioned from elite gymnastics to a career in media and entertainment. Notably, she was the winner of the eighth season of "Dancing with the Stars" in 2009. Her media appearances extended to other television shows, including "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" and "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" She also competed on "The Celebrity Apprentice" and "The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars". As an author, Johnson penned the books "Shawn Johnson: Olympic Champion: Stories Behind the Smile," "Winning Balance: What I've Learned So Far about Love, Faith, and Living Your Dreams," and "The Flip Side."

In 2016, Johnson married NFL player Andrew East. They have since become prominent figures on social media, sharing their lives with millions of followers through their YouTube channel and other platforms, including their life with three kids. Johnson and her husband joined the ownership group of Angel City FC of the National Women's Soccer League in February 2022.

Even after retiring from competitive gymnastics in 2012, Johnson remains an influential figure in the sport. She was inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2013 and the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2019. Away from the gymnastics floor, Johnson has been involved in various charitable endeavors, including work with the Special Olympics and advocating for children’s health and fitness.
