Shelley Spector Biography
Shelley J. Spector, founder/director of the Museum of Public Relations, has consistently been cited as one of the "most innovative" PR professionals in the U.S. With nearly 40 years experience, she has also edited four books, is an adjunct professor, and an internationally known speaker on the influence of PR on history.
She was a disciple of Edward Bernays, the "father" of the PR field, and double nephew of Sigmund Freud.
She founded the non profit Museum of Public Relations in 1997 as the world's first and only museum for the field. The Museum's collection of 5k artifacts spans more than 200 years. Its events, such as Black PR History, is intended to attract more diverse students into the field.
In 1991, she founded and still runs a corporate PR agency, working for such companies as AT&T, HP, Phillips, Bank of America, and other brands. Her agency has won more than 45 campaign awards.
