Sheryl Cababa

Sheryl Cababa is a multi-disciplinary design director with over two decades of experience. At Artefact, where she is the executive creator director, she collaborates with all sorts of interesting people and companies, doing design strategy, research and interaction design. She believes the practice of design needs to be more outcome-focused, and designers and technology need to take greater responsibility for their work by considering unintended consequences. She pushes for design to be more transparent, meaningful and ethical.

Previously, Cababa was a freelance UX consultan, with clients including XPLANE, Whole Foods Markets and the United Nations. She has plenty of experience running design strategy workshops and leading projects. In the end, she favors a human-centered approach to design that improves people's lives.

Cababa has previously worked as an Experience Designer at Adaptive Path, where she not only worked on design research and interaction design projects, but also taught UX Intensive courses, and engaged in thought leadership by way of their long-running blog. Before joining Adaptive Path, Cababa worked at Philips Design as a UX Consultant, primarily focused on DirectLife, Philips'​ physical-activity monitor that was described by Eric Taub at the New York Times as taking "a page from Apple's playbook with its design… Every element of the program… is visually attractive and easy to understand."

Prior to that, Cababa was a Design Lead at Getty images and worked at Microsoft as a Design Lead and Product Designer.

With her design weapon of choice (the Paper Mate Flair) handy at all times, she has also helped other designers spark their creativity by leading workshops in sketching, interaction design and design research methods.
