Sheryl Winarick is a TED Resident and immigration lawyer specializing in employment-based immigration law and nationality issues. She is also a founder and explorer/catalyst with Art of Migration and 'Of Cousel' with Grossman Young & Hammmond, a law firm specializing in immigration, corporate, and human rights advocacy matters for businesses, families, and individuals.
Winarick's work as an immigration lawyer gives her the unique opportunity to know intimately the people she serves, reasons they choose to migrate, and challenges they face. She is also painfully aware of the ways in which the U.S. legal system fails to work in our best interest as a nation.
As a TED Resident, Winarick spent 3 months at the TED office in New York, incubating a project to explore and celebrate communities around the USA and the world through conversation and art.
In collaboration with countless local partners and national organizations like Welcoming America – Winarick is committed to uplifting and shifting society away from division and fear to promote inclusion, mutual respect, hope and joy. Her project, The Art of Migration, continues to facilitate opportunities for deep connection, story sharing, and meaningful and fun personal interaction.
