Shinjini Kundu Biography
Shinjini Kundu is an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and a faculty member in the department of computer science. Previously, Dr. Kundu was a Fellow Physician and Research Scientist in the Department of Radiology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Dr. Kundu earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University before completing her medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh. During her PhD studies at Carnegie Mellon University, she developed an innovative technology that leverages artificial intelligence to analyze medical images and detect diseases.
Her groundbreaking research centers on using advanced technology to identify diseases from subtle cues in medical images. This approach has the potential to enable early detection of conditions such as osteoarthritis, uncover brain abnormalities following a concussion, assess the effects of aerobic fitness on brain aging, and explore the links between genes, brain function, and behavior in autism.
Dr. Kundu has been recognized for her contributions with accolades including Forbes' 30 Under 30 and MIT Technology Review's 35 Under 35, and she has been named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum
