Simon Evenett Biography
Simon Evenett is a globally-recognized expert on trade, investment, and geopolitical dynamics who works closely with companies, governments and international organizations to make sense of a fast-changing, complex world. A professor of International Trade and Economic Development at the University of St. Gallen and Founder of the St Gallen Endowment, he engages actively with decision makers, analysts, and the media. He is also Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on Trade and Investment.
He has taught at Oxford University and was the first Director of Economic Research at the World Trade Institute. For eight years, he was the Co-Director of CEPR’s International Trade and Regional Economics Programme, Europe's most established group of researchers in international trade. He has served twice as a World Bank official and was a non-resident Senior Fellow of the Brookings Institution.
Professor Evenett was educated in economics at Cambridge and Yale universities. He has published over 225 books; edited volumes, journal articles, and book chapters; and prepared over 50 reports for public bodies and international organizations.
