Sonya Curry

Sonya Curry is an entrepreneur, educator, author and speaker, who is well-known as the mother of NBA basketball players Stephen and Seth Curry.

Born with an innate affinity for education, Curry is passionate about every person’s ability to learn and contribute to others on their journey of self discovery, and is committed to building a forward-thinking community. She is the founder of North Carolina's Christian Montessori School of Lake Norman and previously served as the Assistant Athletic Director of the Charlotte Christian School’s women’s sports programs. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Child Development from Virginia Tech and the Montessori education certification for infants, toddlers, and primary school.

Curry’s passion for family and faith has influenced every part of her life. Mother of three and grandmother to six, Curry tells her stories of motherhood, education and Christianity in her book, “Fierce Love: A Memoir of Family, Faith, and Purpose." She is also a podcast host on “Raising Fame,” which tells the childhood backstories of iconic athletes.

Curry is deeply involved in her communities, sitting on a variety of board of directors such as the Charlotte Housing Authority, and advocating for domestic violence, serving at women’s shelters and fundraising.
