Stan Lathan Biography
Stan Lathan is a prolific television comedy producer & director, having directed the pilot episodes of many sitcoms, including The Steve Harvey Show, The Soul Man, Amen, Martin, Moesha, and The Parkers. He is also the executive producer and frequent director of Real Husbands of Hollywood.
In the 1990s, Lathan worked with Russell Simmons to create Def Comedy Jam on HBO as well as Russell Simmons Presents, for which they won a Peabody award. In 2009, Lathan directed then-president Obama's An Evening of Poetry, Music and Spoken Word in the White House.
As a groundbreaking African American leader in film and television, Lathan has won six NAACP Image Awards over the course of his career. He was also honored by the Directors Guild of America and was awarded the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Caucus for Producers, Writers and Directors.
