Starr Andrews

Starr Andrews was introduced to the sport of figure skating at a young age, stepping onto the ice for the first time at three. Driven by an early fascination with shiny skate blades and the grace of movement, she quickly embraced the sport and began honing her skills. Her early dedication blossomed into a passion that has endured throughout her career.

Andrews first captured the public's attention at the age of 9 when her artistic “Whip My Hair” routine went viral on social media platforms such as YouTube, attracting over 45 million views. This early recognition of her talent extended across multiple online platforms and social networks, earning her a dedicated fan base. Today, she boasts over 50,000 followers who admire her for her continuous display of diverse skating styles and captivating performances.

Andrews's career is adorned with significant wins, medals, and accolades. She is the 2022 Skate Canada International silver medalist, 2019 International Challenge Cup silver medalist, 2019 Egna Trophy silver medalist, and 2017 U.S. national junior silver medalist. Her achievements also include finishing fourth at the 2023 U.S. Nationals and consistently placing in the top ten at three ISU Championships. Andrews made history by becoming the first African American woman to win a Grand Prix medal in the singles discipline. In the 2023-2024 season, her success continued with a silver medal at the Kings Cup International and a bronze at the 2023 CS Golden Spin of Zagreb. She has competed in numerous international competitions, such as the Grand Prix, Challenger Series, and Junior Grand Prix events.

Outside of her competition success, Andrews has been recognized for her commitment to the sport through awards and scholarships. She was a 2016 Athlete Alumni Ambassador (3A) award recipient, an accolade that recognizes skaters who have achieved figure skating excellence while actively volunteering. Andrews was also the inaugural recipient of the Mabel Fairbanks Skatingly Yours Fund, a testament to her dedication to her craft. Andrews works under the guidance of coaches Derrick Delmore and Peter Kongkasem, with Delmore also assuming the role of her choreographer. Her dream is to become the first African American to win gold at a Winter Olympics.
