Stephen Wunker

Stephen Wunker combines world-class strategy consulting and entrepreneurial skills as a specialist in new markets. He is the Managing Director of New Markets Advisors, a firm he founded in 2009 that focuses on innovation strategies and capability building. His consulting expertise is globally recognized, advising clients including Microsoft, the Mayo Clinic, Nike, and the World Bank. Wunker is the author of several books, including "Capturing New Markets: How Smart Companies Create Opportunities Others Don’t", named one of the five best Business Books of 2011, and "Jobs to be Done: A Roadmap for Customer-Centered Innovation". His upcoming book, "The Innovative Leader: Lessons from Top Innovators for You and Your Organization", is set to be published at the end of 2023.

As a consultant, Wunker was a long-term colleague of Harvard Business School Professor Clayton Christensen, collaborating on several publications and contributing to Christensen's renowned innovation consulting practice. He has previously held positions at Bain & Company in their Boston and London offices and has been a consistent contributor to prestigious publications such as Forbes, Harvard Business Review, and The Financial Times. Additionally, Wunker has been featured on Bloomberg and BBC television and has shared his expertise as a guest lecturer at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business.

Wunker's entrepreneurial ventures are equally notable. He led the development of one of the world’s first smartphones through a collaboration between British electronics firm Psion and Motorola, and also facilitated a venture with Ericsson to introduce the world’s first mobile Internet device outside Japan. His other ventures include co-founding Yowzit, a leading site for ratings and reviews in Africa and India, and holding leadership roles at Celpay and Brainstorm, developing and selling technology businesses that have spanned four continents. Wunker holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Master’s of Public Administration from Columbia University, and a BA cum laude from Princeton University. He has lived and worked across various countries including the US, UK, Netherlands, Japan, Ecuador, and Zambia.
