Sterling K. Brown

Sterling K. Brown is a three-time recipient of the Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award winner. He made a notable impact with his portrayal of Christopher Darden in the FX limited series "The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story" but his breakout role was in the NBC drama series "This Is Us," where he played the role of Randall Pearson.

Throughout his career, Brown has had supporting roles in critically acclaimed films such as "Marshall," "Black Panther," "Waves," and "American Fiction." For his role in "American Fiction," he received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He has also taken on leading roles in films such as "Hotel Artemis" and "Honk for Jesus." His versatility extends to animated films, where he provided voice roles in "The Angry Birds Movie 2" and "Frozen II." His influence in the acting industry was acknowledged in 2018 when he was included in TIME magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world. In 2024, Brown announced he would be joining former co-stars Mandy Moore and Chris Sullivan for a "This Is Us" rewatch podcast, "This Was Us."

Brown's achievements include making history as the first African-American actor to win both a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Drama and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series. Additionally, he earned a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series as part of the cast of "This Is Us." Brown's voice work for the 2021 documentary "Lincoln: Divided We Stand" was acknowledged with a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Narrator.

A graduate of Stanford University, Brown received his Master of Fine Arts degree from New York University Tisch School of the Arts. He delivered the commencement address at Stanford in 2018 and Washington University in St. Louis in 2023, where he also received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree.
