Steve Kornacki

Steve Kornacki is a national political correspondent for NBC News and a television presenter. On weekdays, he anchors the 4 PM hour of "MSNBC Live" and regularly fills in for Chris Matthews. He started his journey in journalism as a reporter for PoliticsNJ.com before also working for News 12 New Jersey and "Roll Call." For MSNBC’s election coverage, Kornacki has consistently appeared in prime time on election nights, providing real-time analysis of voting patterns, exit polls, and electoral data.

He co-hosted "The Cycle" on MSNBC from 2012 to 2013 and later hosted "Up with Steve Kornacki" on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 to 10 a.m. ET. In 2017, Kornacki was named the National Political Correspondent for NBC News Group and moved to daytime MSNBC. He has also featured prominently as the multimedia anchor and data analyst for much of MSNBC's The Place for Politics campaign coverage and has been NBC's election coverage map correspondent since 2014.

Kornacki has written articles for multiple esteemed publications, including Salon, The New York Observer, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Daily Beast. In 2018, he published his book, "The Red and the Blue: The 1990s and the Birth of Political Tribalism." His work has also appeared in Capital New York, where he’s written a series of deeply researched profiles of prominent New York political figures.

Aside from his main role, Kornacki has shown versatility by hosting a podcast for NBC News called "Article II: Inside Impeachment," which covers the inquiry and first impeachment of Donald Trump. He is also well known for his appearances during NBC's coverage of major events like the 2021 Kentucky Derby and the 2020 Summer Olympics. Despite his busy schedule, he took the time to host another podcast called "Beer and Loathing with Steve Kornacki."

He publicly came out as gay in 2011 and even wrote an article for Salon about his experience. Kornacki is a native of Groton, Mass., and graduated from Boston University. In recognition of his unique style, People magazine named him one of the sexiest men alive.
