Steve Uzzell

Steve Uzzell is a renowned National Geographic photographer and one of the top advertising and corporate photographers in the United States. With over 40 years of experience, he is recognized as an authority on creative problem solving. Uzzell uses his photography as a metaphor for problem-solving and creativity, emphasizing the importance of preparation and the ability to see solutions in unexpected places. His approach is inspired by Louis Pasteur's quote, "Chance favors the prepared mind," and he encourages audiences to prepare their minds to see and seize opportunities.

Steve started his photography career as the assistant to the editor of National Geographic magazine and was a member of their photographic staff. Over the years, his editorial work has been featured in more than 80 publications, including Newsweek, Smithsonian, Time, and U.S. News and World Report. He has also received numerous accolades, including ten prestigious Communication Arts awards. Alongside print, his cinematography has been broadcasted on major networks such as ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS.

Steve Uzzell has given presentations on creativity and problem-solving to over 460 organizations across all 50 American states, as well as in three Canadian provinces and five other countries, including India and China, reaching an audience of more than half a million people. His key speaking topics include attitude, empowerment, inspiration, motivation, overcoming adversity, and media/journalism. He is the author of "Open Roads Open Minds – An Exploration of Creative Problem Solving" and other books such as "Maryland" and "The View from Sterling Bluff". Uzzell spends half the year traveling globally for his clients, focusing on photography and presentations, while dedicating the other half to teaching and delivering his insights on creative problem-solving.
