For over a decade, Scottsdale Research Institute President Sue Sisley MD has led an initiative to work with stakeholders in the government, the scientific community, and the public to ease barriers on the research needed to understand and harness healing agents naturally found in some plants. She is the principal investigator for Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-controlled trials with veterans and first responders examining safety and efficacy of inhaled marijuana flower for treating severe pain and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Dr. Sisley is known as a pioneer in research in the U.S. cannabis industry and fighting for quality cannabis samples to conduct her clinical trials. Her goal: to put crucial medically-active plants through the entire FDA drug development process to eventually be on the market to treat chronic pain, opioid dependence and PTSD as a safer alternative to synthetic pharmaceuticals.
Rolling Stone Magazine has named Dr. Sisley amongst their Top 25 Most Influential in Tech & Research. She and her work have been featured nationally in prominent outlets such as NBC, The Washington Post and PBS "Newshour," among others.
