Suzy Welch

Suzy Welch is a business journalist, best-selling author, and an award-winning Professor of Management Practice at NYU’s Stern School of Business. In addition to her duties as an educator, she is also a senior advisor to the Brunswick Group, a CEO advisory firm. Welch is a frequent contributor to various TV programs, including regular appearances on CNBC, The Today Show, and even contributes to The Wall Street Journal.

Welch began her career as a crime reporter for The Miami Herald in 1981. Her academic background includes graduating magna cum laude from Harvard University and later attending Harvard Business School as a Baker Scholar. Post-graduation, she spent seven years at Bain & Company as a consultant for heavy manufacturing clients in the Midwest.

In 1995, Welch served as the editor-in-chief of the Harvard Business Review, conceptualizing and editing articles on a wide range of business topics, including strategy, economics, operations, and organizational behavior. Alongside her late husband, Jack Welch, she co-authored two international bestsellers: "Winning" in 2005, and "The Real-Life MBA" in 2015. Independently, Welch authored the New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller "10-10-10: A Life-Transforming Idea." The concept behind this book originated from her column in O: The Oprah Magazine. Welch's most recent book, "Becoming You: Crafting the Authentic Life You Want and Need," is set to be published by Harper Business in May 2025.

Appointed as a faculty member at NYU Stern School of Business in 2023, Welch developed and now teaches the acclaimed class, “Becoming You: Crafting the Authentic Life You Want and Need.” Additionally, she instructs "Developing Managerial Skills," and consults for the school’s Leadership Accelerator. She is also the director of the NYU-Stern Initiative on Purpose and Flourishing. Her teaching excellence has been recognized with an award from the Stern School of Business.

Outside her academic and professional roles, Welch holds board positions with ANGI, a publicly traded home services giant, and Quadio, a music tech start-up initiated by her son and step-grandson. Further, she is actively involved in non-profit work, serving on the board of the Humane Society of the United States and Scenic Hudson, a nature conservancy focused on the Hudson Valley. Welch is also an active supporter of the Good Food Institute and The Central Park Conservancy. She resides in New York and Miami.
