Tanya McQueen

It started when she designed and built her own home, working hand-in hand with architects and contractors. Tanya enjoyed the process so much she wanted to continue to create. With the help of her cousin, a licensed interior designer, Tanya founded Tattered Hydrangea. The project aimed to locate “tattered” properties that could be improved with the team’s dedication and hard work. The Tattered Hydrangeas purchased houses that lacked style and warmth and transformed them into welcoming homes. Tanya’s life then turned around with the help of one videotape.

Tanya and her cousin taped one of their Tattered Hydrangea properties and submitted it to the TLC show Property Ladder. Producers selected the tape from thousands of applicants. A documentary crew was set-up to follow Tattered Hydrangeas through a complete renovation.  The episode caught the eye of ABC and the producers of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.  They were impressed by her personality, poise, and unique approach to design. Tanya can now be seen every Sunday night on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition ripping down and rebuilding a new home.
