Tara Setmayer

Tara Setmayer is the Co-Founder and CEO of The Seneca Project, a bipartisan women-led super PAC focused on mobilizing moderate women voters to protect women's rights and safeguard democracy. She has built a notable career in political commentary, having served as a CNN political commentator and contributing to ABC News. Setmayer regularly appears on MSNBC and other news outlets, offering her "tell it like it is" analysis on political issues impacting American democracy. She gained prominence during the 2016 election cycle for her outspoken critiques, which earned her recognition as one of Vulture.com's "Top 20 Election Coverage Stars."

Setmayer’s professional background includes serving as Communications Director on Capitol Hill for the GOP, and working as a research fellow and communications specialist for the Coalition on Urban Renewal & Education (CURE). Her work focused on social policies affecting America's inner cities and the poor. Additionally, she has been active in community outreach in South Florida, co-founding a faith-based program for the homeless and advocating for affordable housing.

In recent years, Setmayer has contributed significantly to academic and media projects. She serves as the Resident Scholar at the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics for the 2024-25 academic year and previously held a fellowship at Harvard's Institute of Politics. She narrated the Emmy-nominated documentary "Dismantling Democracy", which aired on PBS and is currently available on Amazon Prime.

Setmayer was also a senior advisor for The Lincoln Project, co-hosting the live show "The Breakdown" on its streaming channel, LPTV, until June 2024. Her career has spanned over 27 years, during which she has played a pivotal role in shaping political discourse and advocating for democratic values.
