Taryn Brumfitt

Taryn Brumfitt, an Australian body positivity advocate, writer, and filmmaker, is known for her dedicated work behind the Body Image Movement, which she founded in 2012.

As a recipient of the 2023 Australian of the Year award, she has actively engaged in creating a significant impact on societal perceptions of body image, reaching out to over 200 million individuals globally with her resonating message.

Brumfitt has made notable contributions to cinema, through her inspiring documentaries "Embrace" and "Embrace Kids." Released in 2016 and 2022 respectively, these films form an integral part of her advocacy work. In addition to her filmmaking efforts, she is also credited as the author of five books. Her pivotal talk at the TEDx event in Adelaide in 2016, along with a leadership talk at Google HQ in Silicon Valley that was live-streamed to all Google offices worldwide, marks her as a well-received speaker. Her keynote speech at SXSW in Austin, Texas has also been a noteworthy contribution to her public speaking endeavors.

In 2018, Brumfitt was included in The Australian Financial Review's 100 Women of Influence in the Global category. This recognition followed her receipt of the SA Award for 'Excellence in Women's Leadership' from Women and Leadership Australia. Being among GE’s highest-rated speakers and a finalist for EY Entrepreneur of the Year in South Australia further underscores her influence and impact in her field. Her contribution extends to the world of print, where she serves as the Editor in Chief of "Embrace" magazine. In her efforts towards positive societal change, she has raised $6.2M for The Embrace Collective charity, where she serves as a Co-Executive Director.
