Tashni-Ann Dubroy

Dr. Tashni-Ann Dubroy has a distinguished career in academia and university administration. She currently holds the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Howard University, a role she has held since 2017. In addition to overseeing facilities management, IT, campus safety, enrollment management, auxiliary services, environmental health and safety, process optimization, and University strategy, Dubroy also manages areas such as human resources, business auxiliary, enterprise technology, facilities and real estate management, and undergraduate admissions.

During her tenure at Howard University, Dubroy has successfully navigated through multiple crises, including a significant weather-related crisis related to the operation of its steam plant in 2018, and a ransomware attack in 2021. She is currently leading a steam plant modernization effort and an IT overhaul that includes the improvement of the university's core network as part of a partnership with IBM, as well as the installation of a new, University-wide Enterprise Resource Planning system. Furthermore, under Dubroy's leadership, Howard University announced a historic $785 million construction and real estate acquisition initiative.

Prior to her role at Howard University, Dubroy served as the President of Shaw University from 2015 to 2017. Here, she successfully reversed six consecutive years of enrollment declines, leading to a 15 percent increase in new and returning students in 2015. Furthermore, she managed to close a $4 million fundraising gap, leading to her recognition as the 2017 CEO of the Year in the Triangle region. Dubroy's achievements at Shaw University also include earning the institution positive change in net assets to counteract a two-year loss.

As an accomplished academic and chemist, Dubroy has held faculty positions at both Shaw University and Howard University. She began her career as a Research Scientist at BASF, the world's largest chemical company, where she worked her way up to the position of Global Technology Analyst and then Chemical Procurement Manager. Dubroy's entrepreneurial spirit led her to co-found Tea and Honey Blends, a hair care company that manufactured and retailed natural hair care products. She also co-owned downtown Raleigh's Element Beauty Bar.

Dubroy is an alumna of Shaw University, North Carolina State University, where she earned her Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry, and Rutgers University from where she holds an MBA. These extensive educational and professional experiences, combined with her recognition as one of the 'Women Who Mean Business' in the Washington-Metropolitan area by the Washington Business Journal, highlight Dubroy's dedication and significant contributions to higher education and the wider community.
