Terrence Sejnowski Biography
Terrence Sejnowski, a pioneer in computational neurobiology, is regarded by many as one of the world's most foremost theoretical brain scientists. He is Francis Crick Professor and Laboratory Head at the Salk Institute; an investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute; and professor of biology and neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego. Sejnowski is one of only ten living persons to be a member of all three national academies: The National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering and the Institute of Medicine.
He is co-author (with Patricia Churchland) of The Computational Brain; (with Alain Destexhe) of Thalamocortical Assemblies: How Ion Channels, Single Neurons and Large-Scale Networks Organize Sleep Oscillations; and most recently (with Steven Quartz) of Liars, Lovers, and Heroes: What the New Brain Science Reveals About How We Become Who We Are.
