The Strokes

The Strokes, comprising Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture, and Fabrizio Moretti, emerged as a leading force in the early 2000s post-punk revival and garage rock revival movements. Their debut album "Is This It?" received widespread acclaim, named the best album of the year by Entertainment Weekly and Time, and later deemed the Greatest Album of the Decade for the 2000s by NME. They continued to build their global presence with extensive tours, including opening for the Rolling Stones and headlining the UK's Carling Weekend festivals.

Over the years, The Strokes have released several successful albums, such as "Room on Fire," "Angles," and "Comedown Machine," maintaining their familiar sound while drawing influences from various artists and genres. "Room on Fire" went gold and earned them features on the cover of Spin Magazine and Rolling Stone. They performed on popular shows like "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and made multiple appearances on "Saturday Night Live." Their performances at major music festivals, such as Lollapalooza, the Isle of Wight Festival, and the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, further solidified their standing in the music industry.

The band's sixth studio album, "The New Abnormal," released in 2020, won them the Best Rock Album award at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. Beyond their musical accomplishments, The Strokes have also used their platform for political activism, performing at a rally for presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and supporting New York City mayoral candidate Maya Wiley. As of 2022, they reportedly recorded a new album with producer Rick Rubin in Costa Rica while staying active with live performances and benefit concerts.
