Thierry Malleret

Thierry Malleret is the founder and managing partner of Monthly Barometer, a well-regarded newsletter that showcases his rigorous approach to research and analysis. Malleret's career covers a broad range of roles including investment banking, where he was Chief Economist and Strategist at Alfa Bank in Moscow and an Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London. He also has significant experience in think tanks and academia across the United States and Europe, and governmental work, including a stint in the Prime Minister’s office in Paris. At the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, he founded and led the Global Risk Network until 2007, utilizing his expertise to oversee the program team for the annual Davos meeting. Malleret was a senior partner at IJ Partners, an investment boutique in Geneva until 2011, after managing Rainbow Insight, an advisory boutique he founded and later sold.

In 2015, Malleret initiated the Summit of Minds, high-level meetings that merge critical thinking on macroeconomic issues with the significance of personal wellbeing and the natural environment, reflecting his passion for the outdoors. Originating in Chamonix, these summits have expanded to various global locations, including a notable 2019 event in Armenia co-hosted with President Armen Sarkissian.

Malleret is a prolific writer with numerous business and academic publications, and has authored four novels and three additional novels outside of his professional focus. His recent collaborative works with Klaus Schwab, "COVID-19: The Great Reset" and "The Great Narrative: For a Better Future," have gained international acclaim. Malleret also co-authored "Ten Good Reasons to Go for a Walk" with his spouse Mary Anne Malleret in 2017. His insightful keynote speeches cover topics such as "Global Risks", "Global Fault Lines", "Complexity and Turbulence", "Risks and Business Resilience", and "Turning Risks Into Opportunities," reflecting his deep understanding of global economic dynamics and risk management.

Malleret holds two MAs in Economics and History from the Sorbonne and Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, as well as a PhD in Economics from St. Antony’s College, Oxford. He serves on various advisory boards and continues to speak at global events, sharing his expert insights into the intricacies of global economics and strategic risk management.
