Tika Sumpter

Tika Sumpter is an actor, producer, entrepreneur, and podcaster. She began her career as a TV personality and host on The N’s "Best Friend’s Date" and has since developed a diverse portfolio in the entertainment industry. Sumpter is widely recognized for her role as Layla Williamson on ABC’s "One Life to Live," which earned her a NAACP Image Award nomination. She also portrayed Raina Thorpe on "Gossip Girl" and played a young Michelle Obama in "Southside with You," a role she co-produced with John Legend.

Sumpter currently stars as Candace Young in OWN’s "The Haves and the Have Nots" and is featured in ABC's "Mixed-ish," depicting the character Alicia Johnson. Her filmography includes notable titles such as "Stomp the Yard: Homecoming," "A Madea Christmas," "The Old Man and the Gun," "Nobody's Fool," and "Ride Along." Additionally, she gained attention for her roles in "Sonic the Hedgehog" and its sequel, "Sonic the Hedgehog 2."

Beyond acting, Sumpter co-created and co-founded Sugaberry, a lifestyle brand and media company dedicated to Black women. She co-hosts the Gracie Award-winning podcast, "The Suga," which celebrates motherhood and sisterhood.
