Tim Smit

Sir Tim Smit KBE is the Chief Executive and Co-founder of the Eden Project, located near St Austell in Cornwall. Since its inception as a concept in 1995 and its opening to the public in 2000, the Eden Project has transformed a once sterile pit into a vibrant cradle of life, showcasing world-class horticulture and striking architecture that symbolize human endeavor. The project has injected over £1.9 billion into the Cornish economy and has been instrumental in changing public perceptions of science through art, drama, and storytelling. Smit's leadership continues to emphasize the project's commitment to local regeneration and sustainable, forward-thinking business practices.

In his various roles, Smit has served as a trustee, patron, and board member of numerous organizations at both local and national levels. His achievements have been recognized with several honors, including the Royal Society of Arts Albert Medal in 2003, an Honorary CBE in 2002, and a Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE) in June 2012.
