Tonic, a rock band, was established in 1993 by Emerson Hart and Jeff Russo. Their debut album, "Lemon Parade," released in 1996, achieved platinum status, and its single, "If You Could Only See," climbed to No. 11 on the Billboard Airplay Hot 100 the following year. Tonic's music has been featured in various film soundtracks, such as "Scream 2" and "The X-Files: The Album," and their sound is characterized by heavy, distortion-laden guitars. They have made appearances on television shows like "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "The Martin Short Show."
The band received two Grammy nominations in 2003 for their album "Head on Straight" and its single "Take Me As I Am." After a hiatus in 2004, Tonic reactivated in 2008 and continued to release new music, including their fourth studio album "Tonic" in 2010. Another notable release was "Lemon Parade Revisited" in 2016, an all-acoustic version of their debut album funded directly by fans. This was followed by their first non-album single, "To Be Loved," in 2021, along with a music video, their first in nearly two decades.
Apart from their band activities, members of Tonic have also achieved individual successes. Jeff Russo won an Emmy in 2017 for his work on "Fargo," while Emerson Hart released a solo album, "32 Thousand Days," in 2019.
