Tony Schwartz

Tony Schwartz is the CEO and founder of The Energy Project, a consultancy that assists individuals and organizations in managing their energy to thrive amid increasing demands and complexity. Recognized as a thought leader on sustainable high performance and creating more humane workplaces, Schwartz emphasizes the importance of intermittent renewal of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual energy to achieve sustainable high performance.

He began his career as a journalist, serving as a reporter for the New York Times, and writing for publications such as Newsweek, New York Magazine, Esquire, Vanity Fair, and Fast Company. Since founding The Energy Project in 2003, Schwartz has been a prolific writer for the Harvard Business Review and has authored the Life@Work column in the New York Times. His influential articles include “Why You Hate Work,” “Relax, You’ll Be More Productive,” and “Addicted to Distraction.”

Schwartz is the author of several bestselling books, including "The Power of Full Engagement: Managing Energy, Not Time" (co-authored with Jim Loehr), which was a New York Times bestseller for 28 weeks, and "The Way We’re Working Isn’t Working," which also achieved bestseller status on both the New York Times and Wall Street Journal lists. His insights on energy management have reshaped how leaders and organizations think about performance and well-being in the workplace.

Tony has delivered transformational keynotes and trainings to leaders of major companies worldwide, including Google, Unilever, Apple, Facebook, Whole Foods, Microsoft, Genentech, Coca-Cola, and Goldman Sachs, as well as organizations such as the Los Angeles Police Department, the National Security Agency, and Save the Children. He has also spoken at prominent forums such as the World Economic Forum, the Aspen Ideas Festival, and TEDx.

Tony is married to Deborah Pines, a psychotherapist. He has two daughters and three grandchildren.
