Trent Dilfer

Trent Dilfer is the head coach of the University of Alabama Birmingham football team. He is a former analyst for ESPN and the NFL Network. He is a former NFL quarterback for various NFL teams.

Dilfer began his Broadcasting career as a guest analyst for NFL Network (‘06 – ’08). Upon retiring from the league in 2008 he joined ESPN as a NFL analyst, calling games alongside Brad Nessler on NFL Monday Night Football. Dilfer left ESPN and joined NFL Network in 2016, as an NFL Analyst.

Prior to his broadcasting career, Dilfer spent 14 years in the league, playing for five different NFL teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (’94 – ’99), Baltimore Ravens (’00), Seattle Seahawks (’01 – ’04), Cleveland Browns (‘05) and San Francisco 49ers (’07 – ’09). Dilfer was the sixth overall pick by the Buccaneers in the 1994 NFL Draft out of Fresno State University. Dilfer was a Pro Bowl selection with the Buccaneers in 1997, and won the Super Bowl with the Ravens as their starting quarterback in Super Bowl XXXV over the New York Giants.

In 2009, Dilfer was presented with the “Brodie Award,” recognizing an individual’s accomplishments in both a chosen profession and in golf, presented annually by the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament. The award is named for former NFL MVP John Brodie, the one-time 49ers quarterback and Senior PGA Tour player, whose jersey number Dilfer wore during the final two seasons of his career with the 49ers.

In addition to Dilfer’s broadcast career, he participates as a leader/head coach for the Elite 11, a premier quarterback competition for high school quarterbacks across the nation.

Dilfer resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and three daughters. He is widely recognized for his charitable contributions, particularly with regards to the TD4HIM Foundation, which he and his wife established in memory of their son, Trevin, who passed away in 2003 at the age of five from myocarditis.
