Trymaine Lee

Trymaine D. Lee is an American journalist. His reporting on the horrors of Hurricane Katrina earned him both the Emerging Reporter of the Year Award from the National Association of Black Journalists and the Pulitzer Prize for breaking-news reporting as a member of the staff of the Times-Picayune of New Orleans in 2006. Lee also won an Emmy Award for Outstanding News Discussion & Analysis in 2018.

Lee is a correspondent for MSNBC and host of the NBC News podcast “Into America,” which demonstrates how policy impacts American lives. He covers social justice issues and the roles of race, violence, politics, and law enforcement. In 2020, Lee launched “The Race Report,” a special MSNBC series that explored the intersection between race and politics during that election season. He was also among the contributors to the New York Times Magazine’s 1619 Project.

From 2006 to 2010, Lee wrote for The New York Times and from early 2011 to November 2012 he was a senior reporter at The Huffington Post. Since then Lee is a national reporter for MSNBC, where he writes for the network's digital arm. On his MSNBC podcast Into America, Trymaine Lee has candid conversations with the country's biggest movers and shakers—as well as everyday people—about power, politics and policy.
