Uzo Aduba

Uzo Aduba is an award-winning actress, known for "Orange is the New Black" and "Mrs. America," and author.

Aduba also starred in the Netflix limited series "Painkiller," which explores the Opioid Epidemic in the United States. She was in "Greedy People," and "The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat."

Her memoir, entitled, "The Road Is Good: How a Mother’s Strength Became a Daughter’s Purpose" is filled with family history—gripping anecdotes that her mother, aunts, and uncles shared in passing at family celebrations and her own discoveries through countless auditions in New York and her travels to Nigeria.

Aduba's wide-ranging acting prowess has earned her multiple accolades, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2014 and an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2015, both for her role in "Orange Is the New Black". She also secured two SAG Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series in the same years. In 2020, Aduba played Shirley Chisholm in the Hulu miniseries "Mrs. America," a role that garnered her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie and the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie/Miniseries.

In 2021, Aduba took to the Broadway stage starring in Lynn Nottage's play "Clyde's" and earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play. Her extensive filmography includes appearances in "American Pastoral" (2016), "My Little Pony: The Movie" (2017), "Candy Jar" (2018), "Miss Virginia" (2019), and "Lightyear" (2022).
