Vernon Davis Biography
Vernon Davis is a former tight end who played for several teams in the NFL, including the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, and Washington Redskins. He was selected in the 1st round (6th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft by the 49ers and is recognized as one of the highest drafted tight ends in NFL history, alongside players like Ron Kramer, Mike Ditka, and Riley Odoms.
Davis had a standout season in 2009, co-leading the NFL in touchdown receptions. His notable moment came during the 2011 playoffs when he caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Alex Smith against the New Orleans Saints, a play famously known as "The Grab," or "The Catch III." This catch is often compared to iconic 49ers moments such as "The Catch" by Dwight Clark and "The Catch II" by Terrell Owens.
After his tenure with the 49ers, Davis was traded to the Denver Broncos in 2015. He contributed to the team's victory in Super Bowl 50. Following his time with the Broncos, he signed with the Washington Redskins in 2016 and retired from professional football after the 2019 season.
Post his NFL career, Davis has participated in season 29 of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," showcasing his talents beyond the football field.
