Victor Vescovo

Victor Vescovo, is a private equity investor and an extreme undersea explorer. He founded and manages Caladan Captial, a private equity firm. Caladan Oceanic Expeditions are organized by Vescovo who usually pilots the submersible on its dives.

Vescovo has achieved the Explorers Grand Slam by reaching the North and South Poles and climbing the Seven Summits.

Vescovo completed the Five Deeps Expedition, an ambitious endeavor to reach the deepest points of Earth's five oceans. He made history by becoming the first person to reach the deepest point of the Atlantic Ocean, and followed this feat by reaching the bottom of the Southern Ocean, the Sunda Trench at the bottom of the Indian Ocean, and finally the Challenger Deep in the Pacific Ocean's Mariana Trench. His Challenger Deep dive set a world record, with a descent of nearly 11 kilometers. The culmination of the Five Deeps Expedition in August 2019 saw Vescovo reaching the bottom of the Molloy Deep in the Arctic Ocean.

Beyond his exploratory accomplishments, Vescovo has made significant contributions to historical and scientific discovery. He escorted Titanic-historian Parks Stephenson to the wreck of the RMS Titanic. He also placed a commemorative plaque at the wreck of the French submarine Minerve. His explorations have also led to the identification and surveying of several significant shipwrecks, including the USS Johnston and the destroyer escort USS Samuel B. Roberts.

Vescovo's achievements have been recognized by Guinness World Records and Forbes, the latter naming him the "First to Climb Everest, Visit Ocean’s Deepest Depth, and Fly To The Final Frontier."

His diverse career also includes service in the U.S. Navy Reserve, where he served with distinction for twenty years as an intelligence officer, retiring as a Commander in 2013.
