Vince Gilligan

Vince Gilligan was born in Richmond, VA, and raised in Farmville and Chesterfield County. He received the Virginia Governor's Screenwriting Award in 1989 for his screenplay "Home Fries," which was later turned into a film starring Drew Barrymore and Luke Wilson.

As the creator and executive producer of "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul," Gilligan has been instrumental in shaping modern television. His work on "Breaking Bad" garnered multiple accolades, including Emmy® Award nominations for Outstanding Drama Series from 2009-2014, winning in the final season, and Outstanding Directing nominations for Gilligan in 2008, 2012, and 2014. The show also claimed a Golden Globe® for Best Television Series Drama in 2014. Throughout its entire run, "Breaking Bad" was named one of the Best Television Programs of the Year by the American Film Institute and received Peabody Awards honoring both the first and final seasons.

In addition to his notable television work, Gilligan shared Golden Globe® Awards in 1996 and 1997 for Best Dramatic Series as a writer and executive producer on "The X-Files." His other credits include co-creating the Fox Television series "The Lone Gunmen" and working on films such as "Hancock" and "Wilder Napalm." He lives in Los Angeles with his girlfriend, Holly.
