W. Chris Winter

Dr. W. Christopher Winter, a neurologist and sleep specialist, is owner of Charlottesville Neurology and Sleep Medicine and CNSM Consulting. He is the author of "The Sleep Solution: Why Your Sleep Is Broken and How To Fix It" as well as "The Rested Child: Why Your Tired, Wired or Irritable Child May Have A Sleep Disorder -- and How To Help."

With his special interest in sleep and athletic performance. Dr. Winter has worked with numerous professional sports organizations to help their athletes optimize sleep. He also hosts the podcast “Sleep Unplugged with Dr. Chris Winter,” which has consistently ranked as one of the country’s most popular medical podcasts, and the Sleep.com series “Sleeping Around with Dr. Chris Winter."

Dr. Winter is an Echols Scholar graduate of the University of Virginia and received his medical degree from Emory University. He completed his neurology residency at the University of Virginia and as Chief Resident, won a national American Academy of Neurology Teaching Award. He completed his Sleep Medicine fellowship at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

The recipient of research awards from the Sleep Medicine Society and the Associated Professional Sleep Societies, Dr. Winter has authored numerous scientific papers and abstracts dealing with sleep and has been a presenter at many international sleep meetings. He is board certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
