Ysabel Duron

Ysabel Duron, a dedicated advocate and educator, serves as the Founder and Executive Director of The Latino Cancer Institute. Her commitment to her work is derived from her personal experience as a 23-year cancer survivor. Duron's work has gained national recognition, particularly in the Latino/Hispanic community where she is a prominent voice for cancer education, advocacy, and community engagement. Her journalistic background has been instrumental in her ability to effectively communicate complex health information to diverse audiences.

In 2022, Duron's contributions were acknowledged at the highest level when she was invited to the White House by President Joe Biden during the announcement of his Cancer Moonshot initiative. This notable invitation is a testament to her role as a significant figure in the fight against cancer. Following the announcement, President Biden appointed Duron to the National Cancer Advisory Board to the NCI Director, further demonstrating her influence in the realm of cancer research and policy.

Aside from her work with The Latino Cancer Institute and the National Cancer Advisory Board, Duron is also involved with other significant health research programs and committees. She serves on the Institutional Review Board for the NIH All of Us Research Program, the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, and the California Advisory Committee to Advance Precision Medicine. In 2022, Duron also became a member of the ACS National Breast Cancer RoundTable Steering Committee.
