Zach Braff

Zach Braff, an American actor and filmmaker, is widely recognized for his portrayal of John Michael "J.D." Dorian on the NBC/ABC television series "Scrubs," which earned him a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 2005 and three Golden Globe nominations from 2005 to 2007. In addition to acting, Braff has also made marked achievements in filmmaking. He made his directorial debut with Garden State, a film that secured him numerous awards. His second film, Wish I Was Here, was partially funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign.

He was nominated for a Directors Guild of America Award for directing the Apple TV+ comedy show "Ted Lasso." His 2023 directorial project, A Good Person, starring Morgan Freeman and Florence Pugh, showcases his skills as a writer, director, and producer. In 2024, Braff starred in a comedy titled French Girl alongside Vanessa Hudgens and Évelyne Brochu. Outside the realm of film and television, Braff co-hosts a Scrubs rewatch podcast titled "Fake Doctors, Real Friends."

With a diverse career spanning across multiple mediums, Braff has also contributed to the theater industry. He has appeared on stage in the dark comedy "All New People" and a musical adaptation of Woody Allen's "Bullets Over Broadway." Additionally, he has made significant contributions to the world of animation by providing voice work for Chicken Little, Oz the Great and Powerful, and the Netflix series "BoJack Horseman." His academic background includes studying film at Northwestern University's School of Communication, where he graduated in the class of 1997.
