Zahra Noorbakhsh Biography
Zahra Noorbakhsh is a feminist Muslim, Iranian-American comedian, podcaster, and writer. She is renowned for co-hosting the #GoodMuslimBadMuslim podcast, which Oprah Magazine listed as a “must-listen" and the podcast was invited to the Obama White House to record an episode. A testament to her talents, Noorbakhsh participated as a featured comic at the first-ever Muslim Funny Fest in New York City.
As a testament to her versatility, Noorbakhsh's one-woman show "All Atheists Are Muslim: A Romantic Comedy" was a highlight of the New York International Fringe Festival. She is also a Sr. Fellow on comedy for social change with the Pop Culture Collaborative. Beyond her sold-out performances of her stand-up comedy special "On Behalf of All Muslims" at the Golden Thread Theater in San Francisco, she is a member of the San Francisco Writers' Grotto, where she continues to live and work.
Aside from her comedy work, Noorbakhsh is a respected writer. She penned a monthly column titled "My Infidel Husband" and contributed to the New York Times-featured anthology "Love Inshallah: The Secret Love Lives of American Muslim Women." Her writing has been featured not only in the NY Times but also on NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross.
