Zayn Malik's journey as an artist began with his involvement in the boy band One Direction, formed during the seventh series of "The X Factor" in 2010. Their debut album, "Up All Night," achieved considerable success, debuting at number one in the United States. Malik's contribution to the band's subsequent albums and tours, such as the Where We Are Tour, was significant, the latter grossing over $290 million. In March 2015, Malik chose to explore his own creative interests, leaving One Direction and subsequently signing a solo recording contract with RCA Records.

Moreover, he has demonstrated a commitment to philanthropy as an ambassador for both the British Asian Trust and Hopefield Animal Sanctuary.
