Gunnar Peterson is a Beverly Hills-based personal trainer whose clients include celebrities, professional athletes, and everyday people. At his private 5,000 square-foot facility, Gunnar works with each client on an individual basis, focusing on achieving long-term results through challenging and constantly varied workouts. He is widely recognized for his expertise in functional training and his commitment to developing and implementing innovative fitness techniques. With more than 16 years in the fitness industry, Peterson’s dynamic approach, boundless energy and humor only add to the effectiveness of the experience his clients enjoy.
With a client list as diverse as his training methods, Peterson emphasizes strength training modalities that can be transferred from the gym to daily life, from training camp to championship. He has worked with athletes from the NBA, NHL, NFL, USTA, professional boxing and various NCAA sports. These clients have included Carmelo Anthony, Michael Olowokandi, Kurt Rambis, Luc Robitaille, Eric Weinrich, Jeff Garcia, Eddie George, Pete Sampras, Monica Seles, Mike Tyson, Vernon Forrest, and Michael Moorer. He has partnered with Guthy-Renker to develop and produce “Core Secrets,” a fitness system featuring full-body and body-part specificworkouts that focus on strengthening the core of the body. He released his first book, G-Force: The Ultimate Guide to Your Best Body Ever, abouttraining, making it a part of your life, creating and maintaining a positive mind set, and improvising to keep workouts effective and interesting. Through his own fitness product development company, Outside Shot, Peterson has created The Bottom Line™, a total body exercise machine, The RAC ™, an accessory that incorporates weighted upper body work with Spinning ®, and Hoop Hands ™, a basketball-specific resistance training aid.
Peterson is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the American Council on Exercise, and he is a graduate of Duke University . He has a monthly column in Muscle and Fitness, has been a contributing editor for Glamour, and has a recurring feature in L.A. Confidential magazine.
