Isabell Flores is living proof that what you dream, you can be. She has pursued many passions in life, cultivating her diverse talents and abilities to achieve her ultimate goal: giving back to her community as an inspiring motivational speaker, coach, and mentor in the fields of personal development, self-improvement, belief systems, motivation, goal-setting, leadership, empowerment, education, and diversity.
Born in Sacramento, Calif., Flores grew up in a large, loving, working-class family in the Oak Park and South Sacramento neighborhoods. Her grandparents were farm-workers, and taught her from a young age the value of hard work. Growing up in the Sacramento inner city was a challenging time in her life, but also a time where she defined her dreams and determination to do something different than those around her. Flores became active in student government and earned her place on a championship Varsity volleyball team. It was during this time that she discovered what would soon become her professional motto: “Dedication, Determination, and
Discipline.”
Flores’s drive to make a difference in her life paid off. In 1999, Flores graduated from the School of Economics and Business Administration at St. Mary’s College of California, Moraga. Following the completion of her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, where her focus was Media Law with a minor in
Communications, Flores was faced with a cross-roads decision. Already pursuing a career in acting and singing, including acceptance to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, a friend urged her to look into the State Bar of California’s Law Office Study program. This conversation changed the course of her life.
Flores became a lawyer without law school by joining the distinguished program commonly referred to as “Reading the Law” – a program with a rich history in the US. After many years of rigorous study, Flores passed the California Bar Examination and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2007. It is from this first-hand experience in the power of one’s inner strength and tenacity to accomplish any goal that Flores speaks today.
Since her induction into the California State Bar, Flores has been a community advocate, liaison, and mentor working to diversify the legal profession, to build an educational pipeline into the future, and to empower individuals to become a more constitutionally-literate citizenry. She has been recognized by organizations such
as Women Lawyers of Sacramento for her efforts in the community and in encouraging young women to challenge themselves to excellence.
Flores and her successful journey have been featured in California Lawyer Magazine, The National Law Journal, The Los Angeles Daily Journal, The Daily Recorder, and The Sacramento Bee. When she’s not singing, dancing, or partaking in karaoke, Flores enjoys traveling, fine dining, listening to music, reading, and sports.
