Kathey Porter is a nationally recognized small business strategist, award winning subject matter expert and frequent keynote speaker, panelist and workshop facilitator at conferences and events focusing on supplier diversity, economic inclusion, small business development/entrepreneurship and women's entrepreneurship and has addressed audiences at CHIEF, Fast Company, EY, Interise, Inc Magazine’s Inc 5000, ESSENCE Festival and The Conference Board, to name a few. A serial entrepreneur, Porter is the founder of several companies - Porter Brown Associates, a certified minority, woman, veteran-owned, DBE training and professional services consultancy that advises organizations on building inclusive economic ecosystems through supplier diversity programs, inclusive diversity strategies and targeted entrepreneurship training programs. Her company was recognized as a 2020 Small Business Subcontractor of the Year. She’s also founder/lead instructor for the Supplier Diversity Training Institute (SDTI), a national training program for supplier diversity and procurement professionals, organizational stakeholders, etc. looking to gain proficiency in supplier diversity and better support minority and women-owned businesses and BusinessFAB Media, a media company.
Porter has been a longtime strategic partner with the USBC, helping them carry out the mission of supporting black entrepreneurs. She’s also been an Executive Coach/Advisor and Instructor for several national black business accelerators including Goldman Sachs Black In Business, Brookfield , Properties, Inc Magazine’s Inc 5000, Small Business Administration’s Emerging Leaders Program, National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), Babson College’s Black Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Program, African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida (AACCCF) Accelerate Central Florida Program, Atlanta Black Chamber and the Greenwood Women’s Center, where she specializes in helping business growing and scaling their businesses through contracting.
Passionate about telling and sharing the stories of black women entrepreneurs, Porter is the author of 50 Billion Dollar Boss (Palgrave Macmillan), which was nominated for an NAACP Image Award and captured the stories of black women entrepreneurs, Implementing Supplier Diversity (Palgrave Macmillan) and Supplier Diversity for Dummies (Wiley). All of her books have been in the top 100 on Amazon. Her new book Big Tech Boss Energy, will be released in Spring 2025 and will tell the stories of black women in tech.
Porter is mother of two amazing kids – Hollis, a former Miss Wisconsin USA and Mason, a basketball star. In her spare time, she enjoys supporting them in their activities and business endeavors.
An HBCU alum, Porter received her BBA from Savannah State University, her MBA from Georgia Southern University and a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship from the University of Florida.
