Shultz is best known for being a key whistleblower in the Theranos scandal, where he played a pivotal role in exposing fraudulent practices within the once-high-profile biotech startup. Shultz, a former Theranos employee and the grandson of George Shultz, a former U.S. Secretary of State who served on the company's board of directors, became deeply concerned after observing discrepancies in the company’s blood-testing technology.

Despite pressure from Theranos executives and his own family, Shultz reported his findings to regulators, playing a critical role in the investigation that ultimately led to the downfall of Theranos and the conviction of its founder, Elizabeth Holmes.
