As a serial entrepreneur, Sarah has spent more than 20 years launching, building and growing IT, Internet and social ventures, starting with a bulletin board system she published online at age fourteen. She previously founded bComfy, an innovative online software model for ergonomics, and SFBayStyle, an online magazine that surpassed 400,000 readers at its peak. She also played a lead role in Artloop, an online art database company, and Net Daemons Associates (aka NDA, a venture-backed IT services company later acquired by Interliant). As a digital strategist, her company, Leading in Digital, LLC, has worked with companies and nonprofit organizations in multiple countries. She also advises Internet and digital media startups in order to build the pipeline of more entrepreneurs.
A frequent speaker and media commentator, Sarah has been a keynote speaker, panelist, organizer and moderator at numerous conferences including South by Southwest Interactive, BlogHer, TEDx Bay Area, California Leadership Forum, Stanford’s Innovation Journalism, Startup Women Forum, Tech Policy Summit, the U.S. State Department’s Tech Camp, and more. She also enjoys facilitating trainings and workshops for diverse groups.
