"My passion in life is discovering the exotic," says author, celebrity makeup artist, global lifestyle expert, and Oprah Award winner Shalini Vadhera. "Life is a journey. Finding ways to help women look good and feel good is the best part."
And this media darling's journey is one for the ages. Vadhera's rise from jewelry and fashion entrepreneur, to celebrity make-up artist, to best-selling author, to a favorite guest of "Dr. Oz," "The Today Show," and "The View" to the founder of a $21-million dollar global cosmetics company is nothing short of remarkable.
In fact, Vadhera was able to capture lightning in a bottle, literally. She not only sensed where cosmetic trends were headed, she created them. First by writing the best-selling book "Passport to Beauty" and then creating internationally loved cosmetics company Global Goddess Beauty. She caught the eye of Oprah Winfrey in 2009 as O Magazine awarded her the coveted Beauty O~ward. By April 2010, Vadhera had no choice but to resign due to vision inconsistencies with an investor.
Armed with an international business degree and an eye on launching her own global beauty and lifestyle brand, Vadhera started her entrepreneurial journey at the age of 19 when her father sent her to India to start her own company. And that's exactly what she did creating luxury jewelry and fashion lines sold to Macy's and Nordstrom. But with a passion for beauty she launched her makeup career at the top with her big break working on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, a stint that led to a successful career as a celebrity makeup artist. Her success led to recognition by numerous media outlets branding Vadhera as a multi-cultural and global beauty and lifestyle expert. This provided a platform for Vadhera to expand her expert status, resulting infrequent appearances on CBS's "The Early Show," "The Dr. Oz Show," "The Big Idea with Donny Deutsche," E!, NBC's "The Today Show," TBS's "Movie and a Makeover," "Fox News," "Extra" and ABC's "The View."
Before long, industry insiders wanted to capitalize on Vadhera's sterling reputation and vast knowledge on exotic ingredients and cultures around the world. This unique point of view placed Vadhera in demand as a spokesperson and consultant for many Fortune 500 Companies such as Olay, Chapstick, Veet, Revlon, Lola Cosmetics on QVC, Select Comfort Mattresses, Pantone Colors, Everyday Health and as the national spokesperson for iVillage.com, which included hosting the web-based show "About Face" and doing iVillage makeovers on "The Today Show." Vadhera recently finished the 2011 "Brush With Fashion" initiative as the US/Canadian Spokesperson for The Body Shop.
Vadhera continues to pave her way through the competitive business arena, combining her global savvy with an intense passion for the unique and striking, calling every twist and turn an adventure of its own. Vadhera regularly travels the world looking for new inspiration in unique ingredients, rituals, cultures, fashion and lifestyle trends bringing this knowledge to clients looking for the latest innovation in product and brand creation, development, and multi-platform media and brand exposure.
Vadhera was awarded the Anokhi Game Changer Of a The Decade Award in Beauty in 2013. Vadhera was recently named the #1 person to watch in 2013 by The Economic Times of India. The NY Post named Vadhera Global and Gorgeous. Vadhera is currently working on her next book. She is an advisor for Women's Network and speaks to women around the world on entrepreneurship, brand building, funding, beauty, wellness and empowerment. Vadhera continues to coach and empower women entrepreneurs all over the world.
