Toshia Shaw, is a Clinical Social Worker Intern, CSW-I in the state of Nevada. She obtained her Master of Social Work (MSW) Degree from Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU). She holds a Master’s in Business with a specialization in Healthcare Administration from the University of Phoenix (UOP). Shaw has a Bachelor of Human Services Degree from UOP as well. Shaw’s expertise hails in trauma specifically, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and she has a variety of experience working with youth and women from various circumstances and backgrounds. As a human services professional she specializes in behavioral health, holistic mental health, energy mind-body healing, and social justice. She has helped those experiencing emotional trauma to move on and heal.
In the year 2020, Shaw founded an emergency housing program for gxrls ages 16-20 who were victimized by commercial sexual exploitation (CSEC) and human trafficking. In the year 2010 she created, Purple W.I.N.G.S., (Women Inspire Noble Girls Successfully) or simply, PWs. PWs, is a gender-specific and focused program, that works with gxrls and LGBTQI+ teens ages 12-18. From its beginnings, the program has focused on serving under-resourced teens (lacking economic resources, family support, opportunities), gxrls of color, and everyone who is looking for a positive role model in their lives to achieve personal, academic, and professional goals. One of the main goals of the program is to close the gap on disparities, correct negative behaviors, address generational and racial trauma, begin the healing process, and prevent girls from entering or reentering the juvenile justice system. Both programs operate underneath Rite of Passage, The Embracing Project.
Shaw is also the CEO and founder of Empress of Om, Spiritual Learning & Living, where she is a transformational spiritual and life-coach, Shaw uses group/one-on-one mentoring, and e-courses to help people cultivate a new way of living that will enable them to attract the kind of relationships, success, and happiness that they truly deserve.
As a certified Reiki Master and sound-healer she uses her intuition using the five senses to locate and correct imbalances in the energy flow within the body. She does this by focusing on physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness through reiki, sound healing, pranayama, breath alignment, and meditation classes.
As a motivational and keynote speaker, Shaw inspires people who have experienced traumatic events in their lives to overcome their past painful ordeals to never give up, to transform their lives, and to help heal the world. Shaw has graced countless college stages, presented to employees of major corporations such as Microsoft, and organizations around the country. She is a media commentator participating in television segments, TEDx Fremont East Women, PBS’ Surviving Sin City, Trafficked No More, and Red Light, Green Light.
Shaw is the author of, "The Green Light of Forgiveness: A meditation on forgiveness" to take total control over your life after trauma (Purple Wings Publishing, 2016) and "The Re-Awakening: A Workbook to Get Unstuck and Awaken to Your Life's Purpose" (Purple Wings Publishing, 2017). Shaw has been featured in the Huffington Post, countless podcasts, and in Las Vegas CityLife Magazine. Shaw was honored with the Women of Valor Award from Women United 2019, Spirit of Service Award from the Healthy Teen Network Organization in 2016; She has been honored as a Las Vegas CityLife Magazine, Local Hero for 2012; Las Vegas Business Magazine, Woman to Watch for 2011; Ambassador of Peace for the United Peace Federation for 2010. She served on the National Organization for Women, Teen and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Shaw is an activist of social justice and has dedicated her life to eradicating violence against wxmen and gxrls worldwide.
On her downtime you can find her leading a hiking meditation in the mountains of NV, AZ, and Utah. She currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada with her family.
