Karl Schmid is an Emmy-nominated producer and correspondent for ABC's On The Red Carpet as well as a two-time GLAAD Award nominee.

Originally from Australia, Schmid has worked on camera in entertainment news and magazine-style programming for 20 years here in the US and around the world. In 2018, Schmid publicly disclosed his HIV status becoming at the time one of, if not the only on-camera broadcasters in news talking openly about living with HIV. His story went viral and has been featured on NBC's The Today Show, ABC's The Tamron Show, The Doctors, and various ABC News segments as well as appearing in print in Daily Mail, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, People Magazine, WebMD to name a few. Schmid was honored by being one of 2018's OUT 100 and was also labeled, one of 100 LGBTQ Icons and Iconoclasts Who Are Shaping Culture in L.A. and Beyond by LA Magazine.

It breaks down the various forms of stigma and how those lingering ideas from the worst of the epidemic are the reason why we haven't beaten HIV once and for all. It addresses how U=U ultimately is a win-win for those living with HIV as well as those who are not. We take a look at the reality of what it really means to live with HIV in this day and age and inform others on how simple small changes can lead to a bigger movement, allowing all people to live, love, and thrive regardless of their HIV status.
